Sampling with Localized Frames

Abstract Frames can be seen as a generalization of basis with overcompleteness. In many applications, frames provide robust and stable representation of functions due to this overcompleteness. For example, in signal processing applications, the redundancy of frames is beneficial if signals are suspected of not capturing certain pieces of information. A fundamental problem in the frame representation is to find the inverse frame operator. In practice, however, it is very difficult or even impossible to find its closed form in an infinite-dimensional space. We shall study the numerical approximation of the inverse frame operator.
